Albanians marry less, the main cause of divorces is revealed

The number of marriages has decreased significantly in recent years in our country, while the number of divorces has increased to alarming levels.

Young people and sociologists give their opinions about this situation that has a significant impact on the demographics of the population. Albanians are marrying less. Official data speak of a significant decrease in marriages over the last decade.

According to sociologists, the high unemployment among young people with almost 20%, as well as the high emigration of this age group has caused young people to postpone the age of marriage.

"Economic difficulties with high unemployment among young people, with the lack of finding themselves in the labor market for a large number of young people in our country, with small or negligible social policies that make young people more simply making the decision to set up a family cell, emigration is one of the main causes, which is making our young people plan to emigrate rather than marry. Other reasons, I think, are related to the extension of the schooling period, for Albanian women and girls, as well as the increase in the demand for more professional careers, professional progress , says sociologist Entela Binjaku for TCH.

According to experts, if the number of marriages continues to decrease and the number of divorces increases, the situation may turn into a serious threat to the demographics of our country, and in the not-too-distant future we will be grouped among the aging population.
