A bottle of Scotch whiskey "Macallan Adami", which is considered the most sought after in the world, was sold today for almost 2.2 million pounds (about 2.5 million euros), which is a record at an auction for a bottle of wine or alcoholic drink. .
The 1926 Macallan Adami was sold at Sotheby's auction house in London after a bidding "war" between potential buyers over the phone and at the auction house itself, the AP reported.
Twelve bottles, including the one sold today, have labels designed by Italian painter Valerio Adami.
Another bottle from the same cask was sold by Sotheby's in 2019 for nearly £1.5 million (about €1.7 million), which at the time was a record price for a bottle of wine or spirits to date.
"The Macallan 1926" is the one whiskey every auctioneer wants to sell and every collector wants to own," said Johnny Fowle, Sotheby's global head of spirits.
