The picturesque coastal region of Calabria is aiming to revitalize its communities and combat population decline. Authorities in Calabrian villages are trying to attract young people with a financial incentive of almost 30,000 euros to move there. However, this enticing opportunity comes with a condition, that potential residents must be willing to relocate within 90 days and have a viable plan to start a business or fill important job vacancies in the area's villages. .

The application process, which is part of the 'active income from residence' scheme, is aimed at people under 40, with entrepreneurial ambitions or skills that are in demand in their country's job market. The program encourages young entrepreneurs to create businesses such as restaurants, shops or rooms for rent, essential facilities that can breathe new life into these villages.

Gianluca Gallo, one of the "architects" of this initiative, underlined the objective of the plan: to bridge the gap between the demand and supply of jobs, thus promoting economic development and the revitalization of local communities. The financial support, totaling around 30,000 euros, can be used either as a monthly installment of up to 1,100 euros over three years or as a lump sum to start a new business venture. This innovative initiative, supported by a budget of around €540,000, is not only about attracting people to a stunning coastal location, but also about creating sustainable and vibrant communities.
