The international scientific conference, "New problems of Albanianology in today's time" was held for two days in Shkodër. Among the problems that were addressed were those of archeology. In the conference that was held at the University of Shkodra "Luigj Gurakuqi", in cooperation with the Academy of Sciences of Albania, prof. dr. Neritan Ceka gave a speech on archaeological research in Albania and Kosovo and programmatic issues of functioning in the system, related to the character of the ancient Illyrian civilization and beyond. Prof. dr. Ceka spoke about the significant change in recent years in the main objectives of Albanian archaeological research, as well as in the forms of organizing scientific research, but also promoting the management of archaeological cultural heritage. Prof. dr. Ceka emphasized that the engagement of foreign researchers directly in archaeological research in the field, as well as the creation of a new archaeological school in the Republic of Kosovo, have created a more articulated landscape of archeology in Albania. In his statement, archaeologist Ceka highlighted the main problems facing Albanian archeology in the field of Illyrian antiquity, which he summarized in the following questions: Archeology will continue to be guided by the clarification of programmatic issues related to the character of the ancient Illyrian civilization. , of its political base in the format of the Illyrian kingdom and koinon-type civic communities? Will there be a coordination of research with the institutions of the Ministry of Culture in archaeological sites that are part of the national strategy for the development of cultural tourism? Will there be financial support for archaeological research, which will enable their independent development and the creation of a generation of archaeologists in the entire Albanian space, which also coincides with the former extent of the ancient Illyrian civilization?
