National History Museum, 3,201 visitors in February

The National Historical Museum is the most important museum institution in Albania. MHK informs that February of this year had a higher number of visitors compared to 2022. "For the month of February 2023 with 3,021 visitors in total. 323 percent more visitors in total compared to February 2022 with: 714 visitors in total", says MHK. There are about 6200 objects in the museum premises, which belong to a relatively long period of time, starting from the 4th millennium BC and up to the second half of the 20th century. There are about 3100 exposed objects. The rest of the objects are in funds. The National Historical Museum has several pavilions: Antiquity, with 585 objects; Middle Ages, with 217 objects; Iconography, with 90 objects (of which 70 are icons and 20 are church liturgical objects); National Renaissance, with 230 objects; Independence, with 142 objects, etc. A working group, composed of the best specialists in museology, archeology, history, ethnography, visual art and restoration, worked on the conception and content of the National Historical Museum. The National Historical Museum is a scientific research institution. In addition to the pavilion halls, the museum also has archive and laboratory facilities, temporary exhibition halls and conference halls. The Antiquities Pavilion is one of the richest in the National Historical Museum with nearly 400 different objects. Of particular interest is the Mesaplik Mosaic, which was discovered in 1979 by archaeologist Damian Komata and since 1981 has been in the MHK in Tirana. A mosaic masterpiece is "The Beauty of Durrës", which dates back to the 4th century BC.
