The Ministry of Culture postpones the deadline of the international competition for the "Besa" museum

The "Besa" museum is an institution of memory as well as dialogue. The Ministry of Culture opened on February 13 the international competition for the design of the "Besa" museum project, but yesterday the minister Elva Margariti announced that the deadline for the submission of documents for those who want to participate in the competition has been postponed. Minister Margariti also adds that the "Besa" museum has echoed in the foreign media as well. "We have undertaken a new initiative, which affects us all: the establishment of the "Besa" museum, an institution of both memory and dialogue. On February 13, 2023, we opened the international competition for the design of the project of this museum that will be located in the heart of Tirana. Due to many requests, the delivery deadline of the first phase is postponed! New phase I deadline: March 20 (17:00). We are really happy for the echo that this news has found in the international media", says the Minister of Culture on social networks. The museum will be built in the building known as the Libohovit House, a cultural monument, located next to the Tirana Castle and the Toptan Palaces. The purpose of the international competition that was opened by the Ministry of Culture is to obtain contemporary and visionary concepts for interventions of an architectural and restorative character for the rehabilitation and adaptation of the existing object with "cultural monument" status, category I, as well as revitalization interventions, which aim the creation of a new cultural space added to the capital. International competition for the "Besa" museum project paves the way for the creation of a destination of the glorious story of the salvation of the Jews during the Second World War, as well as of Jewish history, tradition, culture and art. The interventions in this facility will be developed in three lines/categories: Restorative interventions; Revitalizing interventions/ New functions; Musealization.
