"Luba" by the director Armand Bora, the drama of a love story in the dictatorship on the theater stage

Events and stories of the 60s-70s in our country come to "Luba". An Albanian theatrical work written by Ylljet Aliçka, which is brought to the stage by the director Armand Bora. "Luba", a playback theater for the first time on the Albanian scene, will be for two evenings in a row on the stage of the theater "Aleksandër Moisiu" in the city of Durrës under the interpretation of seven actors. "Luba" will be open to the public on the evenings of March 11 and 12. "Luba" is the tragic story of a foreign woman, married to an Albanian. Events and stories of the 60s and 70s come to the stage through the parody of the dictatorial system and the exposure of its criminal essence. Earlier, the director Armand Bora showed that our society still has an obligation to the people who suffered in the dictatorship. "The pleasure of putting on this show is twofold, either for the trial of setting up a new theatrical form, also in terms of the fact that we return to these topics, because we as a society still have an obligation to these people, who suffered and paid dearly for that system, and moreover when they are even foreigners, as is the case of Luba. These women came to Albania dreaming of heaven and found hell. In this case, society has an obligation to at least remind them with such a show or conversation", says director Bora.

First created in America by Jonathan Fox and Jo Salas in 1975, playback theater is a theater built on interactivity with spectators. Director Armand Bora has shown that when he decided to bring this work to the stage, its format made it easy to adapt it to a new form of theater, which is playback theater. "I liked the text, because in addition to the story, which is very emotionally charged, it was written in such a modern format, which made it easy for me to adapt a new form of theater which is playback theater, which is being experimented for the first time in Albania. A form that was created in America and then spread throughout the world. A story, which is narrated and materialized on stage by the actors", says the director about the part he brought to the stage.
