The Center for Studies and Publications for Arbëresh (QSPA), in cooperation with the Institute of Linguistics and Literature (ASA), organizes on May 15 the study conference "Polyedric Ernest Koliqi on the 120th anniversary of his birth". The Center for Studies and Publications for Arbëresh (QSPA) states that the focus of this conference will be the multifaceted figure of Ernest Koliq as a writer, researcher and one of the missionaries of Arbëresh culture, publicist, translator, founder of the Institute of Albanian Studies near the University. Ernest Koliqi (Shkodër, May 20, 1903 - Rome, January 15, 1975) was an Albanian poet, novelist, essayist, translator, journalist, playwright, albanologist, teacher and publisher He is considered together with Mitrush Kuteli as the founder of the modern Albanian story. with the collections Shadow of the Mountains (1929), Trader of Flags (1935) and Reflections of Narcissus (1936). After the invasion of Albania by Italy in 1939, he was appointed Minister of Education, while in 1942 he was appointed Chairman of the Fascist Corporate Supreme Council, the legislature at the time of the occupation. In Rome, where he lived after the Second World War, he founded and directed several temporary ones, of which "Shêjzat" was the most important and longest-lived. He directed the chair of Albanian language and literature in the Italian capital, on the basis of which, after 1957, the Institute of Albanian Studies was established. Although he wrote his first poems in Italian in the lyceum notebook, his first work was the dramatic poem "Kushtrim i Skanderbeg", which he dedicated to his friends from the "Bashkimi" society, of which he was a part.
