"FemFest", a festival of activities, with shows and discussions, starts its third edition on March 4 in Tirana. Iliriana Basha, the founder of the festival, says that the theme of "FemFest" this year is "Hymn for yourself". In the interview for the "SOT" newspaper, Iliriana Basha comes with a story about the festival that started in 2022 in Tirana and in 2024 marks the third edition. According to her, at the festival, through art, problems that are not talked about will be given a voice. She says the third edition comes with theater performances, exhibitions and panel discussions, addressing important topics. This year there are nine shows at the festival, which will be on the stages of theaters in Tirana. "FemFest" is a feminist art and culture festival created by "Bash Art" that started in Tirana in 2022, where Iliriana Basha says that this year the income collected from the tickets will go to scholarships for students at the University of Arts. There will be "FemTalk" columns, as well as daily panels that will be moderated by important female figures of public life in the country. "FemFest" aims to sensitize society to change the reality in which we live, aiming for women and girls to enjoy equal rights in every sphere of life.

- The "FemFest" festival starts its third edition this year on March 4 in the large hall of "ArTurbina". Shows, debates and discussions with a focus on women. As the founder of the festival, what can you tell us more about this year's program and the topics that will be covered in the discussion panels?

The "FemFest" festival from March 4 to 8 comes with many activities. Part of "FemFest" are artists, activists, writers, politicians, etc., who through different genres of art will give voice to problems that are not spoken, or those that are not heard. With the discussion panels, we will address very important topics for us as a civil society, as artists and as women. At the festival we have a panel discussion "Government cooperation with civil society in relation to violence against women". How important is this cooperation, because we cannot do it alone and what measures has the government taken to help us? Next we have another interesting discussion panel called "Letter to men". The panelists are all men who will discuss the importance of standing by women in the fight against violence against women. Mr. Silvio Gonzato, the new ambassador of the EU in Albania, Michele Ribotta, representative of UNWOMEN in Albania, Neli Demi, psychiatrist, Genc Salihu, singer and lyricist, Enkel Demi, writer, journalist and Lis Bukuroca, writer who has written three books, are invited to the panel. until now with the title "Letter to men". Of course, during the festival we also have discussion panels with women entrepreneurs, women activists, who give their contribution to these issues. Another discussion panel will be "There is no schedule for violence and harassment in the workplace" or the panel "Women who open paths".

-A rich program this year, where in its 5 nights there are also theater shows where feminism topics are also treated. In which scenes will the audience find you?

Ekspozita do jetë më 7 mars tek holli i Teatrit Kombëtar te “ArTurbina”.

This year the message we want to convey: Women should find time to enjoy themselves. When was the last time we stood in front of the mirror and said to ourselves, well done, or well done today, you look good, or I did this job very well. We celebrate with ourselves daily achievements, big and small, but we get caught up in the routine and forget.

- The festival requires commitments, but when does the work for the next edition start?

Work on the next edition starts as soon as the festival ends. There are 2-3 days of rest and we start throwing ideas about what will happen next year. I have the screenwriter Benada Mulla as my right-hand man, but our staff also has others. We started years "FemTalk" that follows this year as well. They will be interesting names, women who will talk about their experience, challenges and now they have reached a point to celebrate themselves. In these three years we try to be the voice of those who do not have a voice or who have a very low voice. It is a quote from Madeleine Albright: "It took me a long time to develop my voice and now that I have developed my voice I will never be silent again." I like it a lot and use it as a motto whenever things happen to me, to develop my voice and stop being silent.
