The exhibition "A woman passed" is the first for this year, which presents the works of the painter Gazmend Leka. The personal exhibition of the well-known painter opens tomorrow in the "Vilson Kilica" gallery in the city of Fier, where the central character of the paintings and drawings are nudes. The exhibition "A Woman Passed" contains 8 paintings and 16 drawings (Balla collection) and is curated by Ermir Hoxha. According to the curator Ermir Hoxha, "A woman passed" is the next exhibition of the painter Gazmend Leka, when he started the annual series of personal activities. The curator says that he started with "Symbolon" (2014), to be followed by "Molla", "Natura Morta", "Taso", "Prayer", "Room of Lost Steps", until the apocalyptic image of " Noah". Built from oil paintings and drawings, according to the curator Ermir Hoxha, the exhibition is the confirmation of the continuation of a journey started decades ago and the materialization of one of the most prominent voices of Albanian painting. Curator Ermir Hoxha says that the entire exhibition is built from interior images, not much different from the classic format of Leka's creativity. "Sometimes in "Her Room" and sometimes in "His Room", his model is like that, bare, raw and intriguing. In most of the paintings, she is in her "Room", exclusively alone, in her privacy, as she spins as if busy in a circle in the narrow space of the apartment. There, with her belongings, next to the bed, or in the armchair, she wanders carelessly in search of many things. Other times, her most loyal partner seems to be the Light itself. Definition of the most perfect knowledge, with it she seems to generate a different dialogue, both symbolic and playful. She whirls around flirtatiously in front of her even when she comes naturally from the window, even from inside the room", says Hoxha in his following text about the exhibition.

Red has always been considered the color of passion, energy, danger, as well as eros and sensuality. Curator Ermir Hoxha continues that as such, it has accompanied the image in the history of humanity with all its strength, from the walls of Pompeii to the Matis Rooms. Even for Leka, it was an important color, curator Ermir Hoxha continues, always present, it was hidden there under the dark skin of the painting, to culminate in the right subjects or characters. "In this cycle, the classic red has given way to dark grays, ochres and earthy coffees, just as the classic line of the elegant woman has given way to bold, massive and gravitational models. For him, this was a conscious choice, since above all, the female figure had to be real just like the primitive Venuses, with a specific structure and weight, far from the contemporary erotic fetish and sensual notes", he continues. For the curator Ermir Hoxha, after the very dramatic notes of the last cycles, the exhibition seems to finally restore "peace" in Leka's studio.
