Snoop Dogg is giving up smoking marijuana.

"After much consideration and conversations with my family, I've decided to quit weed," the rapper told his 82.5 million Instagram followers. "Please respect my privacy during this period."

The news may come as a shock to some as Calvin Broadus (real name) has long expressed his love for weed, even saying he smoked it in the White House. He has opened several cannabis-related businesses such as a media company focused on it such as "Merry Jane" and a line of cannabis products.

It also invested in Casa Verde Capital, a firm that backs marijuana startups.

Dogg's love of hash has made headlines. In 2019, he discovered that he had a dedicated person whose sole job was to prepare cigarettes. In 2021, he wrote on Reddit that he smoked 81 hashish cigarettes a day.
