Austrian comedian Peter Simonischek, who became famous for playing the father in the film "Toni Erdmann", died last night at the age of 76.

"I can confirm that he died in Vienna, where he lived", said today a representative of the Austrian Association of National Theatres.

Born in Austria on August 6, 1946, Peter Simonischekia owes his fame to German audiences to his ability to play very different characters, be it modern plays or classical repertoire.
