Adriatik Lapaj: I have received offers from all forces, one day we will face each other in elections as a party

Written by SOT.COM.AL 19 Shtator 2023

Activist Adriatik Lapaj presented the newest civic movement, called "Albania becomes". Invited to the show "Open", he said that this was a difficult decision, as he will leave his profession as a lawyer aside and deal with other responsibilities towards the citizens.
He revealed that he has had offers to join political parties from across the spectrum in the country, but has declined on the grounds that he sought change.
According to him, the "Albania becomes" movement is not yet a political party, but he added that the day will come when it will face other forces in elections as a political party.
"It was a difficult decision as there is a responsibility towards society, family but also towards myself. I am a career professional and this commitment will reduce my performance as a lawyer, which is difficult for me. On the other hand, it is the responsibility I take for the citizens, for whom I want to create hope.
Between the dream of career advancement and the realization of the dreams of the children of this nation, I lean towards the latter. I received offers from political parties. The decisions of this republic have historically been made in Bllok or in the armchairs of Dhërmi, where the elite of the country gathers and makes decisions for us. I say I could be part of them because life is a choice. I could become a party, I have always received offers from across the political spectrum.
If it was for business I could stay where I was. The reason is my struggles since the age of 22 to seek a change in this country. It can be debated from the outside, but direct commitment to change is needed. This is not a party, but it can become a political party. The issues this movement addresses should unite everyone across party lines.
If all of Tirana knows that X minister is corrupt, but the prime minister does not reflect, he cannot be punished with today's system, so we demand the opening of the lists. The citizen should have the opportunity for the one who performs well to raise him in the ranking and introduce him to the parliament. There should not be blocks for people who go after someone for interests, but go with the power that the people have given you to oppose. One day we will face each other as a political party, but this is a journey", said Lapaj.
When asked on which side he stands, left or right, Lapaj said: "The left and the right need the vote of immigrants?! I believe so, and I am with all of them. Does the left and the right need to open the race? I believe so and I am with both parties. If you ask me whether you are for the flat tax or the progressive one, I am for the flat tax because I am for taxing each individual unit and not taxing those who work the most".
