The UN makes a dire warning: The world risks facing a frightening rise in

The UN's climate forecasts are not good. "The world is experiencing a 'monstrous' increase of +3 degrees Celsius in global temperatures", the United Nations Organization has warned, before the decisive Cop28 Climate Summit that is expected to start next week in the United Arab Emirates.

According to an article published by The Guardian , the report of the UN Environment Program (UNEP) reveals that current policies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions are so inadequate that within this century an increase of 3 degrees is expected.

If +3 degrees Celsius is reached instead of +1.5, about 420 million more people on Earth will have to face extreme heat waves and up to 80 million more people in the world could be threatened by hunger.

2023 has been the year of breaking high temperature records over the years. Floods and droughts have been numerous this year. Climate change has claimed lives and affected the way of life around the world. According to scientists, so far the temperature has increased by 1.4 degrees Celsius from the norms.

So scientists say that "the worst awaits us, if temperatures continue to rise at these rates". UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has repeatedly said that the world is heading towards a "hell" future.

The report says that implementation of future policies already promised by countries could reduce the 3°C limit by 0.1°C. Implementation of the emission reductions promised to developing countries provided they receive financial and technical support would lead to a temperature increase of 2.5°C, which is still a catastrophic scenario for the world.
