Vision 2030, Denaj in Vienna: The prestigious European University in Albania

The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) is already a strategic partner of the Agricultural University of Tirana that will serve as a guiding model for the objectives, especially in terms of the internationalization of academic structures and offer.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj and the rector of the Agricultural University of Tirana, Fatbardh Sallaku, held an important meeting with Prof. Eva Schulev-Steindl, rector of BOKU University, in Vienna, where they discussed the modalities and the last steps before signing the BOKU-UBT 2030 cooperation project.

Denaj said that, during the meeting, there was a discussion about the developments of the labor market and the efforts of the universities, but also the policy makers to offer young people in Albania valuable diplomas for employment according to the needs dictated by the global markets.

Part of the talks were the possibilities for financing innovative projects and the transfer of knowledge for the advancement of the agricultural sector in Albania, as well as the importance of scientific research in the advancement of sustainable rural development in the country."

Danja said that, "through the 4-year implementation of this project, it is aimed at the deep reform of UBT, in order to be aligned within the year 2030 with BOKU and the European counterpart universities in the three pillars of its mission: study programs, scientific research and knowledge transfer".

This unique project of reformation and internationalization makes UBT the first University in the country to project its future with the model of one of the best universities in Europe with a history of success over 150 years in agriculture, environment, biotechnology, forest sciences, economics and rural development.

"We start from the implementation at the beginning of 2024 with a detailed plan of activities which will be carried out by the best experts of BOKU in close cooperation with the academic staff of UBT", said Minister Denaj.
