Economic expert Elvin Meka said in a television studio that two of the main problems faced by foreign companies in Albania are the implementation of the contract and the law on land ownership. Meka said, among other things, that Albania is a backward country in the industrial formation of the workforce, and we are experts in cafe businesses and not innovation, or jobs that require mind and technology.
"Each country has its comparative advantages. All the countries of the former Yugoslavia have been established markets in terms of industrial production. Like North Macedonia and Kosovo, they have been part of a real industrial market of foreign investments. Albania in compared to all the countries of the Balkans, there is no comparison with Europe, it is far behind not only in terms of industrial development, but also the transaction it can create in the manufacturing industry. Especially after the 90s, it has been perceived that the only comparative advantage is the power cheap labor and informality. If you see most of the investors, they have either been anonymous in their country, or evaders, without a name, and very few international brands as far as the manufacturing industry is concerned. Albania is one of the most backward countries belongs to the industrial training of the workforce. We are experts in those jobs that don't want work, don't want mind, I'm opening a coffee shop, innovation, brain killing, patents, technology are not required. Foreign investors will look for what this market offers. If you have a society that does not value work, and taxes the mind wildly...Politicians influence society.
The main problems faced by foreign companies are two elements: the implementation of the contract, and the law on land ownership. Albania continues to be the most paradoxical country in the world, where for the same surface you can find up to 5 owners. This costs and is a very heavy weight in terms of the possibility of attracting foreign investments. Albania in 2009 was still growing, while in recent years we are maturing", said Meka.
