Numbers are increasing / Hospitalizations are increasing, 10% more compared to

The number of patients who have been admitted to hospitals has increased by 10%. Data from the Compulsory Health Care Insurance Fund show that for 2023, the total number of admissions for all contracted hospitals was 307,808 patients, 29,927 patients or 10% more than in 2022. University hospitals are the ones that have carried the highest number of layoffs, followed by regional and municipal ones. Meanwhile, private hospitals have borne most of the influx. According to the contracts that the state has with some private hospitals, it turns out that the "Mother Teresa" Hospital Center covered 40% of the flow.

The regional hospital of Vlora is the one that has had the highest registrations for admissions, followed by that of Durrës. For the year 2023, in Regional Hospitals out of 112,233 hospitalizations in total, 90,156 hospitalizations are from emergencies, which account for 80.3% of the total. Even in the past years, the percentage of emergency admissions has been extremely high. For the year 2023, a total of 54.8% of hospitalizations are through the emergency service. In University Hospitals, for the year 2023, emergency admissions account for 32.7% of admissions. The Mother Teresa Hospital Center (QSUT) covers over 40% of the hospital service at the national level but receives only 23% of the fund for hospitals.

QSUT will be financed with 7.8 billion ALL, which is as much as 23 percent of the fund of about 33 billion ALL that will be allocated by 2024 for hospitals. But on the other hand, QSUT handles almost half of the volume of work offered by our public hospitals in the country.
