Foreign investments increase in 6 months, "boom" in real estate, more from Italy, Germany and the Netherlands

Foreign investments in Albania have reached a record in the first six months of this year. According to data from the Bank of Albania, during this period investments reached 634 million euros, from 469 million euros in the previous year. Real estate was the preferred sector to invest in, and more money came from Italy, the Netherlands and Germany. The year 2022 is turning out to be successful for foreign investments, which have reached record values. The figures of 2019 have even been surpassed, when foreigners invested 546 million euros in Albania. From January to June, according to data from the Bank of Albania, Italy holds the largest share of investments with 75 million euros. The Netherlands with 70 million euros and Germany with 59 million euros. But compared to previous years, a decrease in the value of investments from the Netherlands, Turkey and Switzerland has been recorded. Meanwhile, during this period, there was a boom in investments from countries and organizations that are not declared for reasons of confidentiality. From 61 million euros, which was the value of the investment last year, to 300 million euros this year. The greatest attention of foreign investors continues to be focused on the real estate sector and the energy sector. Specifically, in the first six months of this year, 142 million euros were invested in real estate, increasing by 62 million euros. Investment in this industry has taken off in recent years, where not only the attention of foreigners but also of Albanians is mainly focused on real estate, and property investment. In second place with the largest increase in investments is electricity. Of the 42 million euros that were invested in this sector in the first half of 2021, in the same period this year, 103 million euros were invested by foreigners.
