Written by SOT.COM.AL 24 Qershor 2024
Despite not being part of the union, the European Union is ready to help the countries of the Western Balkans through concrete funds and grants.
Specifically, the EU has made available 6 billion euros, much of which is distributed through projects to the countries of the Western Balkans.
The economic expert, Teuta Nunaj, said that this EU policy aims at the integration of the region with concrete acts.
She emphasized that the Balkan countries should compete with concrete projects in areas where they are supported the most.
"The EU is still supporting the Western Balkans to become part of the European family, and at this point, its approach to the Balkans is more direct through an economic pact, which is an investment value, where the Balkan countries to to be beneficiaries, they must compete with projects", said Nunaj.
Asked in which sectors Albania should absorb these funds from the European Union, the expert stated that energy and technology should be the main areas that deserve increased attention and focus.
"The EU also has this approach with its member countries, so it provides funds through projects. In energy and digitization, we must receive these funds", he said.
