Agreement with FAO, Minister Anila Denaj: 7.5 million dollars for innovative solutions in Agriculture

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj, signed a framework agreement yesterday with the regional head of FAO, Raimund Jehle. Minister Denaj announced that the framework agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and FAO is based on a program, which until 2026 will support the sector with 7.5 million dollars, integrating in agriculture innovative solutions that promote the economic development of sustainable, environmentally friendly and socially inclusive in rural areas of the country. Minister Denaj emphasized that one of the crops that will be supported is the Tropoja chestnut, with the aim of building a geographical brand of quality. "For chestnut growers in Tropoja, we will start implementing a project on the ground with the objective of building a functional value chain that affects all steps such as protection from pests, harvesting, storage, processing and marketing of chestnuts with the aim of building a geographical brand of quality ", said the minister. She also talked about a structured plan to strengthen three other core products in the value chain. "We have a structured plan for strengthening three other essential products in the value chain: medicinal plants in Delvina, honey in Dibër and saffron in Shkodër. I am confident about the road ahead of us and I believe that, together with FAO, we will build a more stable future for Albanian producers", Minister Denaj declared.
