Written by SOT.COM.AL 6 Tetor 2022
The great food price crisis seems to affect the price of coffee as well.
In the latest Eurostat report, it is emphasized that coffee may turn into a luxury item as its price is expected to continue to rise along with the price of sugar and milk.
In the "Newsbeast.gr" article, referring to the Eurostat report, it is emphasized that a cup of coffee has become more expensive than usual.
"Recent price increases make coffee almost a luxury item," the European Union's statistics office said, announcing that average coffee prices rose 16.9 percent in August compared to a year earlier.
Fresh milk now costs 24.3% more on average, while consumers paid 22.2% more for low-fat fresh milk, Eurostat said.
The biggest increase was recorded by sugar, with an average price increase of 33.4%.
The data showed that prices for these four products have increased in all EU member states, with the exception of Malta, where the price of fresh low-fat milk has remained unchanged.
Finland and Lithuania saw the highest changes in coffee prices, with increases of 43.6% and 39.9% respectively, followed by Sweden and Estonia.
Poland recorded the largest increase in the price of sugar, increasing by 109.2% since August 2021.
