KESH has another energy purchase for the end of September, the 6.1 million euro auction

Energy for the last week of September and October 1 cost the Albanian Electric Power Corporation 6.1 million euros in the last auction.
The results made public by KESH show that an amount of 56,130 MWh divided into three lots was secured, while earlier in the notification for the purchase of energy, 63,000 MWh were requested.
For the first lot, KESH provided 38,976 MWH of energy at a weighted average price of 114.29 euros/MWh with a total of 4.45 million euros.
The other two lots, namely 5754 MWh and 11400 MWh, had a weighted average price of 110.89 and 94.44 euros. This is the second purchase of September, as only a week ago the Corporation bought another 4.1 million euros of energy in the free market to ensure the supply in the country.
The last procedures developed by KESH regarding the purchase of energy earlier belonged to the end of July and the beginning of August when another 4 million euros were paid.
From the beginning of the year until now, energy purchases have been few compared to the previous year and the spent fund is calculated at approximately 35 million euros.
Meanwhile, the favorable water situation and the optimization of the cascade by alternating purchases in certain periods from the free market have made KESH have more energy exports that, although in modest value, remain higher than imports, at around 36 million euros until end of June.
The start of imports indicates an attempt to maintain the Drin cascade where the autumn rains have not yet started to make an impact. The latter during this year has shown better hydrological indicators, staying above the historical average, also as a way to provide energy security in the country, driven by the energy crisis that, although the effects have faded during this year, still remains present.
Prices on the stock exchanges are appearing significantly more favorable than in 2022, but the start of the cold in Europe and the increase in demand for gas are expected to give their effect with an increase in these prices.
This is also related to the fact that geopolitical uncertainties and the active remnant of the Russia-Ukraine conflict make the markets insecure, especially the energy market./ Monitor
