The government aims, through the policies that will be followed in the next three years, to increase the number of people employed in agriculture by 2 thousand individuals. In the mid-term budget 2024-2026 published in the Official Gazette, it is stated that the main objective is the development of the agricultural and rural sectors in Albania, to improve their economic performance and living conditions in rural areas, to prepare these sectors for future membership in the EU, increasing the number of employees in agriculture and agro-processing (from 565,954 employees expected in 2024 to 568,000 employees in 2026. Also, promotional activities for Albanian products in agriculture, livestock are programmed and agro-processing. As well as an increase in the volume of export of agricultural and agro-processing products from 50.7 billion ALL in 2024 to 58.6 billion ALL in 2026, that is to say a jump of 7.9 billion ALL or 790 million dollars in 3 years. In the mid-term budget it is also stated that the aim is to improve the competitiveness of agriculture and the agri-food industry as well as to improve the quality of life by promoting the variety of economic activities in rural areas, by increasing the number of beneficiaries of support measures in agriculture from 7,000 beneficiaries in 2023 to 13,900 beneficiaries in 2026.
