Will there be an increase? EBRD publishes the latest report on the Albanian economy

Written by SOT.COM.AL 27 Shtator 2023

The Albanian economy will grow at the level of 2.5% this year. The forecast is made by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which does not change the expectations it had at the beginning of the year. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development expects economic growth this year in Albania to be 2.5%.
The last report published this season keeps the forecast made in the spring unchanged. The EBRD foresees the growth of the Gross Domestic Product at this level, taking into account the weaknesses and prospects of Albania's main trading partner, Italy, and the still high food inflation, which is eroding disposable income.
According to the institution, our country's economy grew by 2.7% in the first quarter of 2023, driven by weaker demand, although inflation was falling. Exports of goods decreased yesterday, due to the decrease in external demand and the strong appreciation of the lek. The region will also be on a similar trajectory, with Montenegro and Kosovo leading expectations at 3.5% and Bosnia and Herzegovina closing at 1.5%. Meanwhile, for 2024, the EBRD expects the Albanian economy to grow by 3.3%.
