According to a publication from the "European Statistics Agency", Albania has the highest rate in Europe of people who are unable to keep their home warm. The latest data for our country refer to the year 2020 and speak of 35.8% of Albanians who have expressed that it is impossible to keep their house warm continuously. The average of the European Union for this indicator, throughout the year 2020, was recorded at 7.5%, while after Albania in second place comes Bulgaria with 27.5%. According to updated data in the countries of the European Union, for the year 2022, the rate of people who are unable to keep their home warm has increased to 9.3%. Since Albania is the first country on the list, the rate is consequently the highest in the region. At the regional level, the second after Albania with the highest rate is North Macedonia with 23.8%, followed by Montenegro with 13.2% and Serbia with 9.5%. Referring to the ranking, among the countries with the lowest rate we can mention Switzerland with 0.2%, Norway with 0.8%, Austria with 1.5% and Finland with 1.8%. According to the "Institute of Statistics" for the year 2020, more than 1 in 2 families in our country are heated with firewood, while the capital, Durrës and Vlora are mainly heated with electricity.
