Vucic, panicked by the protests in Serbia, turns his "eyes" from Vladimir Putin, that's why Moscow is his only chance to stay in power

The rally organized by Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade seems to be more vital than ever for him. Not only from Serbia, but Serbian citizens from all over the Balkans have been persuaded by "seduction" and pressure to be at the "Serbia of Hope" gathering. After two mass murders in Serbia at the beginning of May, the opposition has repeatedly organized protests in Belgrade with the slogan "Serbia against violence" where, among other things, calls for the resignation of Vucic have been added, increasing the pressure on him. In this context, the "only salvation" seems to be Russia, and the trip of the head of the Information Security Agency of Serbia, Aleksandar Vulin, to Moscow for the session of the 11th International Security Conference, seems to have this purpose. However, it is considered a dangerous action. News circulated in the media that together with Vulin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic also traveled to Moscow, but he denied it, even saying that he was not invited at all. As experts say, in all this panic of the authorities, caused by civil protests, Vulin's visit can be used for marketing purposes.

Vuk Vuksanovic, a senior researcher at the Belgrade Center for Security Policy, told "Danas" that this was a dangerous move because, although Serbia did not impose sanctions on Russia, it tried to maintain a balancing policy when it came to Ukraine. "Now this can create the perception in the West that Serbia is Russia's mediator. This would potentially make Serbia and its government the target of new Western pressures", he emphasizes. As the researcher adds, in this case this movement is only about internal politics, the current protests, obviously the most serious internal challenge the government has faced since 2012. "Now it is most likely their desire to secure the support of Moscow and its security structures in an effort to control or suppress this crisis in some way," Vuksanovic says, although he is almost certain that he cannot no physical aid is sent to Belgrade. According to him, it may turn out to be a marketing move. "It can be a way to compromise those protests in a marketing way and to say that this is a Western-colored revolution, this is confirmed by the Russian brothers," says Vuksanovic.
