Pyongyang sent prominent figures, confirming the importance of the meeting. Among them was the head of the Workers' Party Central Committee department, and Central Committee secretaries Oh Soo Yong and Park Tae Seong. Also present were Choe Son Hui, the foreign minister known in the West for hosting a summit with Donald Trump, and Jo Chun Ryong, director of the munitions industry department, and defense minister Kang Sun Nam. Also with Kim are Ri Pyong Chol, vice chairman of the Workers' Party's Central Military Commission, and sister Kim Yo Jong. Ri holds the army's highest military rank and is responsible for overseeing the defense industry.
