The virus that 'kills' the deadly disease, the very promising new therapy for patients is discovered

A new type of cancer therapy that uses a common virus to infect and destroy harmful cells is showing promise in early trials, UK scientists say.
One patient's cancer disappeared, while others saw their tumors shrink.
The drug is a weakened form of the cold virus – herpes simplex – that has been modified to kill tumors.
Larger and longer studies will be needed, but experts say the injection could ultimately offer a lifeline to more people with advanced cancer.
Krzysztof Wojkowski, a 39-year-old from west London, is one of the patients who took part in the phase one trial, run by the Cancer Research Institute at the Royal Marsden NHS Trust.
He was diagnosed in 2017 with salivary gland cancer. Despite surgery and other treatments at the time, his cancer continued to progress.
A treatment with the virus therapy - which is a specially modified version of the herpes virus - appears to have cleared up his cancer.
"I had injections every two weeks for five weeks, which completely eradicated my cancer. I've been cancer free for two years now," he said.
The injections attack the cancer in two ways - by attacking the cancer cells and by activating the immune system.
