The "Qatargate" scandal sets the European Union in motion, the EC sets up an ethical body, here are the 7 mechanisms that will stop corruption

The "Qatargate" scandal sets the European Union in motion, the EC sets

After the "Qatargate" scandal, the European Union has focused on the fight against corruption. Therefore, the European Commission has approved a proposal for the creation of an inter-institutional body for ethical issues, which would include members of the EU institutions, ie the European Parliament, the European Council, the European Central Bank and others. The Commission emphasizes that with the establishment of a body for ethical issues, for the first time there will be clear standards, anti-corruption mechanisms that will apply to all EU politicians, in seven basic areas. Setting standards for receiving gifts, catering services and third-party travel stands out. In second place are conditionality measures and transparency measures, especially for meetings with representatives of interest groups. In the third place are the ethical standards related to the interests and assets to be declared, where the categories and control procedures of these declarations will be defined. The fourth relates to accompanying or external activities, to ensure that the availability and independence of members is not compromised. The fifth group deals with the activities of former members after the end of the mandate, which should be public. The sixth standard refers to "the implementation of a common framework, including compliance monitoring and follow-up in cases of rule violations within one of the institutions, also for possible cases of harassment and sanctions". In the last place, i.e. the seventh place is the publication of information, which means that every institution will have to publish how it implements these standards.
