Scientists worried after completing new study: This species could trigger another Covidine-like pandemic

Recently a new study has warned that rodents can cause another health crisis with deadly consequences, namely another pandemic like that of Covid-19.
Rodents are known as carriers and spreaders of diseases throughout history, including the Bubonic Plague. Researchers from Princeton University in the US say that rats can be carriers of asymptomatic (asymptomatic) coronaviruses.
Their study reveals that these animals have developed a resistance to pathogens, due to recurrent infections from their ancestors. The study's lead author, Professor Mona Sing, says this increases the likelihood that today's rodents could carry Covid-19-like viruses and infect the population.
Scientists believe that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, may have a zoonotic origin, that is, passed on to humans from an animal. Studies have shown that bats in China pass Covid-19 to another species, possibly pangolins, before they reach humans.
Globalization, urbanization, climate change, increasing human-animal contact, and a shortage of health workers are helping to spread the virus to other continents, creating a situation similar to the current pandemic of 2020.
The study authors say that since 2000 there have been 3 pandemics: SARS (Acute Severe Respiratory Syndrome) in 2003, Swine Flu (H1N1) in 2009 and now Covid-19.
The mice had greater diversity, and a faster rate of evolution. similar to SARS. "This raises the possibility that some modern rodents may be asymptomatic carriers of SARS-like coronaviruses, including those that may not yet be detected."
