Vladimir Putin warns again, threatens Europe: He will pay ...

Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that Europe will pay a high price for energy if the West imposes an embargo on Russian oil.

He said talks about a possible embargo had already spurred a rise in global oil prices.

Putin made the remarks as he spoke with Russian oil chiefs and government officials in a televised speech about the impact of Western sanctions on the energy industry.

The Russian leader claimed that the sanctions, which were imposed after the Russian occupation of Ukraine in February, were imposed by the West for political reasons.

But he concluded that it would be impossible for some European countries, which depend heavily on energy from Russia, to completely avoid oil.
