A new military base will be built soon, Russia "turns its eyes" to the Mediterranean, Vladimir Putin's dangerous moves are revealed and the "bloody" business with the Greeks that could cause a tragedy

A new military base will be built soon, Russia "turns its eyes" to the

As if the war in Ukraine was not enough, which has been a "headache" for the whole world, now an increasingly tense situation is emerging in the Mediterranean. All of a sudden, the Russian president has turned his eyes to this part of the globe, albeit without reason. Moscow is seeking access to a port in Libya, which could expand its naval presence in a sea dominated by NATO members and allied powers. The idea of ??a base in Libya has been circulating in diplomatic corridors for many years. Moreover, Russia has been a close ally of General Haftar since 2016. Now, however, the pressure on Haftar would have become even more intense, as some journalists of the "Wall Street Journal" reported. So, another dangerous business has the potential to turn the Mediterranean into a "pool of blood", and here Moscow certainly has a "hand".

The new naval base

According to "WSJ", there are at least two ports identified by Moscow for docking its ships. The first is Benghazi, the largest and most important city in Cyrenaica, where Haftar is based. The other is Tobruk, a few kilometers from the border with Egypt, on the easternmost part of the Libyan coast. In both cases, these are infrastructures already ready and equipped to accommodate the fleet. Now, however, the request would directly concern the possibility of establishing a naval base in one of the 2 most important ports in Cyrenaica. The general's response and will are unclear at the moment, also because Haftar currently has to deal with the disaster caused by Cyclone Daniel in the areas he controls. A naval base in Libya would certainly facilitate Vladimir Putin's plans. First, because it would eventually make Russia one of the main players in the North African country, where even today the powers of the area are trying to create their own space. Second, because it would undoubtedly give Moscow an important foothold directly on African territory. Therefore, establishing a base a few kilometers away from Greece and Italy would be disrespectful to the Atlantic Alliance. The US is well aware of Russia's moves in Libya. Not just now, but for several months. In fact, it is no coincidence that Washington has returned to dealing with the Libyan file after years of almost total absence. The idea of ??the United States is clear: only by reuniting Libya will it be possible to avoid Haftar's final slide into the hands of Russia. where even today the powers of the area are trying to create their own spaces. Business with the Greeks
