Macron "survives" the distrust, the decision is made on the pension reform in France

Macron "survives" the distrust, the decision is made on the pension

The French government survived two no-confidence motions by opposition lawmakers after President Emmanuel Macron used a special constitutional power to pass pension reform without a vote in parliament.

The pension reform has already been passed under French law, but opposition MPs have vowed to continue their fight against the controversial new law, writes France 24.

The proposal gathered 278 of the 287 votes needed to overturn the government's decision.

The second no-confidence motion, presented by the far-right National Rally, also failed to pass.

Protests have taken place in all French cities against the bill that aims to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64.
