Serhii Moskalenko, the head of a regional detention center in the Kherson region, who was cooperating with the Russian occupation "authorities", was killed, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced.

"Moskalenko, 45 years old, was a resident of Nova Kahovka and the owner of a local security company. During the occupation, he collaborated with the Russians and was appointed head of the detention center where inhumane torture was carried out against Ukrainian prisoners," said a statement from the Main Directorate of Intelligence.

Earlier, local media reported that Moskalenko's car was blown up in the village of Yuvileynoye in the Kherson region on March 17. Russia's Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation.

According to the Investigative Committee of Russia on March 17 "an unknown person" placed a special device under the left bumper of the VAZ-2121 car driven by Moskalenko. An explosion later occurred, killing Moskalenko on the spot and injuring his wife and daughter.

Ukrainian media reported that Moskalenko left the Russian occupation "authorities" in May 2022. On September 29, the Kherson District Prosecutor's Office charged him with cooperation with the occupation authorities, specifically with "voluntarily taking a position in an illegal enforcement agency of the law established in the temporarily occupied territory'.
