"No, I will not shut up! Glory to Ukraine"/ They criticized Putin, the Russian couple suffered badly

Written by SOT.COM.AL 1 Shkurt 2023

Russian authorities have arrested a couple, identified as Olesya Ovchinnikova and Alexey Ovchinnikov, after speaking out against Vladimir Putin's war while dining at a restaurant. Foreign media reports that several armed officers from the country's national guard handcuffed the couple and forced them to lie on the ground when a staff member at the 'Krasnodar Na drovakh' - or 'On Firewood' restaurant reported their private conversation to the police. After officers handcuffed her, Ovchinnikova defiantly declared her full support for Ukraine in a video that could land her in jail for up to five years under draconian laws banning criticism of Putin's war.
"I will go all the way," she said, undaunted, rising from the floor in handcuffs. Hello Ukraine! No, I won't shut up. I won't shut up. Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes! Glory to Zelensky…!”
She mocked the young officer who was filming the video as evidence against her.
“You are a superhero… What else can I say? I know you are ashamed [for stopping us for this], I know how ashamed you are. I know at your young age how ashamed you are of everything you do."
After the arrest at the bar, the couple with two minor daughters were taken to the police station. According to the couple's lawyer, Alexey Avanesyan, a court ordered 15 days of detention for her husband. She received a fine of 1,000 rubles [£12]. However, she will face further action after law enforcement drew up a protocol against her for allegedly discrediting the Russian military with her pro-Ukraine comments. The maximum penalty is five years in prison.
