Here's what will happen after the Kurti-Vucic meeting in Ohrid, chaos is predicted in Belgrade, Serbian extremists plan violent protests

Here's what will happen after the Kurti-Vucic meeting in Ohrid, chaos is

Politicians from the right wing of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic are taking the opportunity to link the war in Ukraine with their desire to take control of Kosovo at a time when Vucic is entering into negotiations with the EU for the normalization of relations with Kosovo, the independence of which is not recognized by either Belgrade or Moscow. The victory of Russian President Vladimir Putin in Ukraine would be a step for Serbia to return Kosovo, believes Misha Vacic, the leader of the extreme nationalist and pro-Kremlin political party Serbian Right. "We have to be patient and wait for the situation in Ukraine to end and then we will have enough time," Vacic told Politico.

What is expected to happen?

Serbian media write that extremists from several ultra-right and pro-Russian organizations in Serbia are planning violent demonstrations in the coming days after the meeting between the Serbian president and the Prime Minister of Pristina today in Ohrid, in the framework of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina. The meeting in Ohrid is taking place with the mediation of the highest officials of the European Union (EU). Experts of the political situation with whom the Serbian media "Blic" spoke on this occasion do not predict epochal results and believe that the European proposal for Kosovo will not be signed, but there may be a compromise for its implementation. The meeting in Ohrid is taking place with the mediation of the highest officials of the European Union (EU).

Details from the meeting in Ohrid

Initially, Borrell and Lajçak meet with Kurti and Vucic in separate meetings. These meetings are needed to concretize the points that then serve as a map in the tripartite meeting between the two EU diplomats and Kurti and Vucic. The preliminary meetings are a practice established by the first mediator, Borrell's predecessor, Baroness Catherine Ashton. Here the leaders are told who will speak first and who will speak second. On which side they will sit, how many minutes they have for the opening speech and what they will talk about. Leaders in these meetings also show their concrete points and then agreement is reached on what should be discussed and what should not be discussed. Everything is done so that there are no surprises in the meeting, but everyone knows their role in advance. Then the trilateral meeting begins.

Borrell and Blinken talk about the Ohrid meeting
