Unbelievable but true story/ 5 cars saved 50 lives. Here's what happened

Written by SOT.COM.AL 8 Mars 2023

While more than a month has passed since the earthquakes of February 6, which caused over 51 thousand victims and hundreds of billions of euros in economic damage, stories with a happy ending continue to come from the most affected areas.
CNN Turk reports that in a 5-story building in Antakya, where 50 people lived, none of them lost their lives, although the building was heavily damaged, due to 5 cars. The vehicles, parked below the building, managed to keep the building standing, allowing the residents to leave in time.
56-year-old Ismail Gürler, one of the residents of the building, whose car was crushed by the earthquake, tearfully tells what happened on the evening of February 6. "A very loud noise was heard, we immediately started running with the children. Then we heard a second noise and it seemed as if the palace was spinning. We tried to go towards the door but we could not open it as it was blocked by the rubble. Then we went out on the balcony. We tied the blankets and went down hanging from the second floor. We lost our house, car, wealth, but we are alive. We had bought the house 4 months ago, everything there was new".
Gürler also told how they managed to save the other residents, most of whom are elderly. "Because the building was damaged but not collapsed, they managed to get down to the garage. They stayed there for a day and then left. Most suffered minor injuries. The cars prevented the palace from collapsing completely," he said.
Gürler then managed to get back into the apartment through the window, through the crane, to get some of the most valuable items. But despite the tragedy, he says he will return to the same city one day.
