What is going on with Putin? Doubts are growing about the health of the Russian

Vladimir Putin will not rule Russia in the near future due to his health problems, a source close to the Kremlin reports.

The problems have added "unpredictability" to his future as leader and whether he will be able to continue as pressure mounts to worsen the occupation of Ukraine by Russian military forces.

The Russian leader, who turns 70 tomorrow, is said to have been seen around 35 times by medical specialists with cancer expertise, according to the opposition website Proyekt.

Putin has also been seen walking with a limp on several occasions, as the dictator turns 70 tomorrow.

He is becoming increasingly "isolated and irrational" as he ages and his health problems are said to be affecting his decision-making.

He still enjoys widespread support in Russia, but some members of the political elite have acknowledged that Putin's regime is close to its final collapse.

A source close to the Kremlin told Meduza, an opposition website: There is an understanding, or a desire, that he will not govern the state probably in the foreseeable future.
