Scary/ 40 immigrants are burning inside the reception center, the guards did not open the door!

Written by SOT.COM.AL 29 Mars 2023

The video showing the interior of the immigration center in Mexico where 40 migrants were burned has added to the scale of the tragedy, as it showed that it could have been avoided.
The guards are seen there leaving to escape themselves as the crowded cell is engulfed in smoke and flames, but they do not open the door for them. The video, which has been viewed 1.4 million times so far, was shared by Mexican journalist Joaquín López-Dóriga who described the situation as 'criminal'.
The fire that broke out in the center located in the border city of Ciudad Juarez is said to have been caused by a detained immigrant, who burned the mattress in protest against their deportations. Mexico's National Institute of Immigration says the victims of the fire were all male immigrants from Central and South America. Another 28 people were sent to the hospital.
The episode, the deadliest of its kind recorded in years in Mexico, comes at a time when the country and the United States are facing record levels of attempts to illegally cross their shared border. UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric reacted in a statement saying the organization's secretary-general is calling for a 'fundamental investigation into this tragic event. The Mexican authorities have not responded to the request for information on when this center was opened in Ciudad Juarez, what conditions it has and how many migration centers are currently in operation.
