Biden toughens his language to Trump: If he will become President of the USA

President Joe Biden ends nearly every speech by saying he's more optimistic than ever about the direction the country is headed. But recently, he has spoken about a worrying future for the country, in case Donald Trump would become president again.

In recent days, President Biden has accused the former Republican president of being "determined to destroy American democracy" and seeking "revenge" and "payback".

From the electoral campaign of President Biden, messages with strong warnings are being sent via e-mail, such as: "Trump's America in 2025: Nationwide ban on abortion", as well as "Mass concentration camps". Former President Trump has proposed the organization of what he called the largest operation in American history to arrest and deport immigrants. But he has not supported a policy for a federal ban on abortion.
In any event, highlighting the contrast between President Biden and former President Trump would have been a central element of the Democrats' strategy for the 2024 presidential election. But previously, former President Trump was mentioned only briefly, if at all, in President Biden's speeches.

Already, in the messages of the Biden election campaign, references to former President Trump have increased significantly, while there is less than a year left until the election. The change, which comes after President Biden's poor poll results, shows how Democratic voters can be more motivated to stop Mr. Trump than, say, hearing about investments in infrastructure or renewable energy.

President Biden has admitted that many voters are not satisfied with the state of the economy. Voters are disillusioned with high inflation and worried about his old age. At nearly 81, Mr. Biden is the oldest person to be elected president.

During a speech Wednesday to donors in San Francisco, President Biden said former President Trump is using Nazi rhetoric to demonize political opponents. The comment was made after former President Trump vowed to "eradicate" those he described as enemies, describing them as "caterpillars". But in the continuation of the same speech, President Biden returned to his usual motto, saying that "I have never been more optimistic about the future of the country".

There is a cacophony between President Biden's cherished hopes for an America on the rise and his stark warnings that the country could fall prey to what he calls a future tyrant. His campaign officials say the two messages support each other.
"I don't think they contradict each other. These are two sides of the same coin, and it's our responsibility to push in both directions," said Michael Tyler, director of communications for the Biden campaign.

When asked about President Biden's comments and comparisons to Nazi rhetoric, Steven Chung, spokesman for the Trump campaign, said that President Biden is "destroying democracy."

"It is unacceptable and racist" for President Biden to "make this disgusting connection" to Nazis, Mr. Cheung said. "But I wouldn't expect him to behave in an honorable way. He clearly suffers from Trump Disorder Syndrome and needs to get professional help."

Even if President Biden manages to overcome low poll results and win a second term, there is no guarantee that democracy will automatically be saved.

In a Nov. 9 speech to donors in Chicago, the president acknowledged that he will need to create a sense of unity by returning the country to the equality principles of the Declaration of Independence. But these are the same principles he says former President Trump and his millions of supporters want to abandon.

"...if you can't unite the country, how can you maintain the continuity of a participatory democracy if you can't reach consensus?", he said. "How would this work?!"/VOA
