Canceled the meeting with Mitsotakis, Prime Minister Sunak is 'crossed': Wrong diplomacy!
Written by SOT.COM.AL 28 Nëntor 2023
Strong reactions have been caused in Britain by the attitude of the Prime Minister of the country, Rishi Sunak, for canceling the meeting with his Greek counterpart, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, after the latter's statements to the BBC on the matter of the Parthenon sculptures.
"Very bad diplomacy. British Prime Ministers do not make such insults to their friendly counterparts", a citizen reacted.
"The behavior of the British government is offensive to Greece. The sculptures of the Parthenon are Greek property and should be returned to Greece," says another.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis' interview with the BBC on British soil with the Parthenon Sculptures in the background was the reason for British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to cancel a planned meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at 10 Downing Street in London tomorrow.
Speaking to the BBC, Mitsotakis emphasized, among other things, that the Parthenon Sculptures "would look better in the Acropolis Museum. It is not a matter of return, the sculptures are from Greece and they were stolen".
