A luxury cruise ship carrying 206 passengers, mostly Australians, became stranded in a remote area of ??Greenland.
Foreign media write that the Ocean Explorer crashed in the Alpefjord about 1,400 kilometers from the capital Nuuk.
The ship's captain initially waited for the midnight tide to try to leave the site, but the composition of the bottom, a combination of sediment, sand and mud left behind by an iceberg, made it impossible.
"Our main priority is the safety of the 206 passengers. We are in the national park in the north-east of Greenland, which is uninhabited. "Fortunately, it is calm and we have time on our side as there is no imminent threat of a storm," authorities said.
