Lawyer Xhevdet Smakqi has reacted to the burning of several offices of the Institute of Forensic Medicine of Kosovo. He has connected the explosion of fire in this institute with the questioning of the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, by the prosecution regarding the case of Astri Dehari, who died mysteriously in the detention cell on November 5, 2016.
In his Facebook profile, he wrote that the disappearance of the samples of the Dehari case and the burning of the IML during the mandate of the Kurti Government do not appear to be "coincidences".
"Some big questions? Not even 24 hours after the interview of Albulena Haxhi by the Prosecutor of the case Dehari, the Offices with documents of the Institute of Forensic Medicine were burned. Why join this moment even if it's a fire accident why why????? The Institute of Forensic Medicine as an Agency is under the guidance of the Minister of Justice, i.e. Albulena Haxhiut. The damage caused by the burning of laboratory documents in the IML of the cases under investigation and those that have not been clarified greatly harms the work of the State Prosecutor's Office and the achievement of the Justice of Kosovo to identify the perpetrators and protect the victims of the crime and the injured parties. Therefore, the disappearance of the monsters of the Dehari case and the burning of the IML as two "coincidences" in the mandate of the Kurti Government do not seem to be coincidences or cannot be coincidences", he wrote.
He requested that these events be investigated in criminal terms.
"These two actions, supposed accidents, must be thoroughly investigated in the criminal aspect. But on the side of political responsibility, they should follow with the dismissal of the Minister of Justice Albulena Haxhiu or her resignation due to objective ethical responsibility and political morality if she has any ounce left", wrote Smakiqi.
