Kukes police have handcuffed a 54-year-old man after trying to smuggle drugs into the country.

The police operation coded "Medicine" is finalized, for cracking down on the smuggling of goods for which excise duty is paid. The operation, from the Sector for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes, at DVP Kukës, in cooperation with the customs authorities in Morinë. 15 boxes of different medications, worth 15,000 euros, were seized. A 54-year-old man, the owner of the bus where the drugs were found, was arrested.

Specialists for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes in the Local Police Directorate of Kukës, after the information received on the operative route, for a case of an attempt to smuggle a quantity of drugs into our country, have organized the work and in cooperation with the customs authorities in Morina , have finalized the coded police operation "Medicine".

During the operation, at the entrance of PKK Morina, as a result of the control exercised by the services of DVP Kuka, in cooperation with the customs authorities in Morina, 15 boxes of medicines were found and seized as material evidence in the bus owned by the citizen MH various (goods for which excise duty is paid), worth 15,000 euros.

At the end of the actions, citizen MH, 54 years old, resident in Kosovo, owner of the Prishtina-Tirana bus, in which the drugs to be smuggled to Albania were found, was arrested in the act. The procedural materials were handed over to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction in Kukas, for the criminal offense "Smuggling of goods for which excise duty is paid or with full or partial suspension from customs or excise duties".
