The Minister of Emigration of Great Britain said that Albanians should be prohibited from seeking asylum. He said that Albania is considered a safe place to live and there is no reason for Albanians to seek asylum in Great Britain.
Robert Jenrick said such individuals should be "excluded from the right to seek asylum" as he warned that current levels of migration to the UK were "unsustainable". He was "forced" to comment on the immigration situation, since the Ministry of the Interior did not comment to The Sunday Times media, where according to it ministers are working to stop asylum seekers from entering illegally.
Home Secretary Suella Braverman was reported to be urging Rishi Sunak to back plans to detain any illegal migrants on arrival. The government is under pressure from Tory MPs to tackle people smugglers who use small boats to ferry migrants across the Channel. Jenrick warned that illegal migration could create problems for the future and said ministers agreed that overall levels of people entering the country were too high so far.
