The former Minister of Education, Myqerem Tafaj, has stated that the result of "PISA" for education in Albania was not expected.

Tafaj said that the "PISA" report made the education in Albania much worse, compared to the reports of an agency in the country that deals with these statistics.

He said that there are several factors that have influenced the decline in the level of education in the country, including the Covid-19 pandemic.

"The result was not expected. In Albania there is an agency that annually produces reports on education. In these reports in recent years, there have been good reports, all problems of education have resulted in a good degree of objectivity. I did not expect this result of "Pisa".

In the 2021 report that the World Bank produced, it was said that the effect of the pandemic made the difference in the results of students from rural areas to urban areas, deepened by another three months.

So from 1.6 years it had gone to two school years. Now these results came and these are not good results at all.

I would say that apart from the pandemic, we should consider that this generation of 15-year-olds has started with a different curriculum, that is, in this test mathematics has been in focus. Now it is being tested with Pisa and we have a decrease in the students' abilities", said Tafaj.
