"It's a scandalous situation, no one intervenes", residents of Vlora are alarmed (details)

Fiks Fare denounced the negligence of the Municipality of Vlora to clean the city cemetery in Babicë.

Snakes, thorns and bushes had "invaded" the entire territory of this cemetery, while at the time when the journalists went to that place, no state employee was there. But, the only ones who were in that place were some snakes, which had "disappeared" the family members of the deceased who were resting in that place.

In the newsroom of the investigative show, many citizens complained, who declared that the brambles and bushes had "invaded" everything and "no official has put water on fire for mowing them". Journalists also asked relatives to interview them, but at that moment no one was in that territory. Even some relatives who were trying to visit their deceased relatives were unable to enter and asked for help to find a solution.

The Fix camera, in addition to the bushes and thorns, also filmed places with garbage inside the cemetery and no one had taken measures to remove it. However, the only place that was cleaned was the grave of the father of the current Mayor of Vlora, Dritan Leli. The workers, in addition to the grave, had also cleaned the surroundings, even the road to get to that place.

"It is a scandalous situation. We buried our relatives, I have my sisters and nephew here in this cemetery. We can't go away from the thorns. No one interferes," says a resident of the area.

After this issue, the Fiksi group went to the Municipality of Vlora to inquire. The information workers told the journalists that they "communicated with the director of services and that they should be interested in this problem at the municipality". They claimed that the Municipality of Vlora did not have any information about this situation. Fiksi also went to Komunalja, communicating with the director.

"We have no information that it is our competence. We have 83 workers, but we also have other jobs. We have sent some workers to that place," says the director.
