Serbs attack media teams, the first reaction comes immediately from the EU ambassador

The Ambassador of the European Union in Kosovo, Tomas Szunyog has condemned the damage to the cars of the media teams who are reporting in the north of Kosovo. 

He said that journalists should be allowed to carry out their work without fear for their safety, despite the tense situation.

"The European Union condemns today's damage to cars belonging to KallxoLive and RTV Dukagjini. Although the security situation in the north is tense and difficult, journalists should be allowed to carry out their work without fear for their safety," he wrote.

During the day, it was reported about the damage to some media cars which are reporting from the north of Kosovo, where one of them was set on fire.

Among the attacked media is Top Channel, where two people with hoods and masks write Serbian symbols in the car of the team that is reporting in the north.

Some Serbs in Zveçan, Zubin Potok and Leposavi?, are protesting against the entry of new Albanian mayors into the municipalities.

The situation in these municipalities became tense on Friday, May 26, when the sworn mayors were forced to enter their work offices under the assistance of the Kosovo Police.

Five policemen were injured while four cars were damaged, as a result of the protesters' actions.

Albanian leaders have emerged from the April 23 elections in the four northern municipalities of the country, elections which were boycotted by the largest party of Serbs in Kosovo, Lisa Serbe, with the support of official Belgrade.
