"Criminal money has been pumped into construction", experts reveal how many years it takes a family to buy an apartment

Written by SOT.COM.AL 25 Janar 2023

Experts estimate that an Albanian family needs 50 to 60 years to buy a house, while in Switzerland it takes 11 years.
According to Numbeo, Tirana is considered one of the most expensive cities in the world, considering prices and income.
Numbeo, a digital map that evaluates and compares the standard of living of countries around the world, says that in Tirana it is more expensive to live than in the whole globe, taking into account income.
According to Numbeo, a family of four in Albania needs 260,819 Lek excluding rent to get through the month. Compared to Skopje in North Macedonia, an Albanian family needs almost 30% more money to live in a month.
The picture clearly shows that the real buyers are not the normal Albanian families. Within this large market hides a great deal of informality and money laundering activity….
"The prices of raw materials have increased, but on the other hand, money of criminal origin has been pumped in. With the tolerance shown by the system and law enforcement bodies. This means that the structure of consumer demand has also changed. It is no longer the immigrants who buy, but many of them want to break the contracts because they cannot pay the installments, but there are businesses that want to increase the quality of life and exponents who come from the underground world of crime", said Zef Preci, Director ACER Executive.
This is confirmed by national and international reports such as Manival and the General Directorate of Prevention of Money Laundering.
