55 years ago the area between Librazhdi and Dibra was shaken by the strongest earthquake recorded in Albania in the last 100 years. The 6.6 magnitude earthquake destroyed entire villages, where 12 people lost their lives and 174 were injured.

Three years ago, the earthquake with its epicenter in Durrës, which took the lives of 51 people and injured dozens of others, highlighted once again the problems encountered in the quality of constructions that are made in our country.

Today, when dozens of citizens are still living in tents, after their houses were destroyed by the earthquake, or they are living on rent because the buildings where they lived before have not yet been reconstructed, specialists seek awareness of the local communities, regarding the quality of the constructions that will be made. in the future.

"We want to raise awareness for the opinion and the local community. To attract the attention of the public because we are at risk from earthquakes and the area must have a well-studied urban development, to be long-term", said Ismail Hoxha, from the Institute of Geosciences.
